I had the joy and privilege of teaching my own children to read in a homeschool setting, and for the past seven years, I've been teaching first grade in a traditional classroom. For the last four years, I've also been tutoring students in reading, utilizing this specific, proven approach. I am so thrilled to have this wonderful tool, and I've seen firsthand how it helps students become stronger readers! In my spare time I read to my grandchildren, play with my dog, Annie, and take every opportunity to teach children to sing.
This past summer Signal Learning Connections had the opportunity to partner with a local non-profit, Family Impact. Family Impact's mission is to help inner-city children and families reach their full potential. I had the honor of working with a team of volunteers serving the Wheeler Holmes neighborhood by building roads to literacy and fostering cross-cultural relationships. It was a privilege to carry forward Signal Learning Connections's vision of helping all children grow their foundational reading skills utilizing evidence-based instructional methods in this caring and community-oriented project. Literacy is life-changing for everyone, and what an encouragement to see these kids realize how much they can learn! Thank you, Family Impact!
We are a non-profit organization dedicated to helping children, families, and communities across the Chattanooga area reach their full potential by meeting needs spiritually, socially and financially. Our mission is to develop cross-cultural relationships that cultivate a community of resources which meets the needs of marginalized communities.
